Wondering how to get your child into modeling? Start with their interest, a few clear photos and an experience that gives them room to learn. If your child loves dressing up, posing for pictures or imagining a walk down the runway, you can explore that curiosity together without expecting them to arrive as a professional.
Renegade Model Tour’s children’s modeling experience in Los Angeles is planned for October 2027. The one-day program welcomes children ages 6 and up, with no prior modeling experience required. Here is how parents can prepare for that first step.
Start with a conversation, not a portfolio
Ask your child what sounds exciting: trying a fashion show, learning to pose or wearing a designer look? Let their answer shape the experience. A child who wants to try something new does not need to decide on a career before taking a beginner workshop.
Explain the day in familiar terms: practice, photos and a show. Keep the goal focused on learning and enjoying the experience. Give them space to tell you when something feels exciting, confusing or uncomfortable.
Take clear, current application photos
Renegade’s children’s program asks parents to tell the team about their child and include clear photos. Choose recent pictures that show your child as they look now. An uncluttered background and good natural light make a straightforward introduction.
Avoid filters that change facial features or heavily edited images. Follow the application instructions and provide accurate information. You can begin with a simple introduction rather than arranging an elaborate shoot before you understand the program.
What does Renegade’s children’s modeling experience include?
The kids modeling program combines a runway workshop, confidence building, a one-look photoshoot and a children’s designer show during Los Angeles Fashion Week. Young models practice walking, turns, posture and presentation before stepping into the show.
The program is designed as a one-day introduction, with age-appropriate coaching and encouragement. A one-look photoshoot gives children a chance to experience the camera as well as the runway. It is a way to try the process and build familiarity with taking direction.
Prepare together and keep practice light
At home, try a short walk across a room, a pause and a turn. Keep practice playful rather than asking your child to copy an adult model’s presentation. Let them get comfortable listening, stopping and trying again.
Before making travel plans, confirm the specific date, location, schedule, clothing and footwear instructions with the team. Ask which items are provided and what your child should bring. Give yourself enough time to prepare without making every day feel like a rehearsal.
Parents and guardians are part of the experience
A parent or guardian must complete the application and accompany models under 18. If selected, families will be contacted with next steps. Read the details together and ask about the day’s arrangements, package costs and what is included before confirming participation.
Treat the program as a modeling and runway experience. Taking part does not guarantee agency representation or paid bookings. The immediate value is a chance to practice, create a fashion portrait and discover whether your child enjoys the environment.
